Laboratory accredited by:
Polish Centre for Accreditation with regard to PN-EN ISO/IEC 17025:2018-02 standard, in the field of chemical testing and physical properties of textile products
The main activity of the Laboratory of Testing the Ecology of Textile Products is to perform, as services, tests on textile products at various stages of processing (fibres, yarn, fabrics, knitted fabrics, nonwoven fabrics, etc.) and finished products (accessories used in finished textile products, jewellery and toys) in the following areas:

  • assessment of their safety in use – testing for the content of hazardous substances listed in legal regulations (including Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18th December 2006 concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH), Toy Safety Directive)

  • assessment of functional properties – testing of resistance of dyes to selected physical and chemical factors

The laboratory performs the following tests:

Test methods covered by the scope of accreditation:

  • determination of the pH of aqueous extracts

  • determination of content of formaldehyde – free and hydrolysed by aqueous extraction

  • determination of total heavy metal content (arsenic, mercury, lead, cadmium)

  • determination of heavy metal content extracted with artificial perspiration

  • testing of migration of specific elements (safety of toys)

  • determination of pentachlorophenol

  • testing for the presence of carcinogenic aromatic amines derived from azo dyes

  • determination of dimethyl fumarate (DMF)

  • determination of phthalates

  • determination of organic tin compounds

  • determination of solvent residues (formamide, dimethylformamide (DMF), 1-Methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP), dimethylacetamide (DMAc)

  • determination of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs)

  • assessment of functional properties of textiles:

  • testing of resistance of dyes to: acidic and alkaline perspiration, saliva and perspiration, water, washing, organic solvents, dry cleaning, dry heat treatment, ironing, friction – dry, wet and with organic solvents

  • testing the resistance of textile floor coverings to shampooing

  • testing of oleophobicity

test methods not covered by the scope of accreditation:

  • determination of nickel bioavailability according to PN EN 1811

  • determination of the total content of selected heavy metals (e.g. silver)

  • determination of the content of selected pesticides

  • testing of the content of disperse dyes

  • determination of the content of quinoline

  • determination of chlorobenzenes and chlorotoluenes

  • determination of bisphenol A

  • determination of bisphenol A

  • determination of eucalyptol

  • odour analysis

It is the only laboratory in the country to perform tests as part of the OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certification process.
The laboratory is equipped with, among others: GC-MS/MS, ICP-MS and LC-MS/MS.

The purchase of GC-MS/MS was subsidised by the Minister of Science and Higher Education on the basis of decision 6849/IA/SN/2018 on the award of a targeted grant for the purchase of scientific and research equipment constituting large or strategic research infrastructure entitled: ‘Purchase of research equipment for chromatographic instrumental analysis of bioactive and hazardous heteroorganic compounds’.

ICP-MS and LC-MS/MS – purchase made possible thanks to co-financing by the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund and the state budget – project no. WND-RPLD.03.01.00-00-002/13: ‘Development of the research and development infrastructure of the Institute of Textile Technology for the purpose of research on the safety of using of textile products’. .
