The Laboratory of Textile Metrology and Electrostatics performs comprehensive tests on raw materials, threads, flat textile products, including those coated with rubber and plastics, geotextiles, geosynthetics, textile laminates, foils, hook-and-loop fasteners, hosiery and clothing products, protective clothing and workwear, textile floor coverings, toys and textile products intended for the manufacturing of toys.

The laboratory participates in the execution of international and national projects. It also provides services to entrepreneurs.
It is the only laboratory in the country that tests textile floor coverings and textile floor tiles using the following instruments: Vettermann’s drum, the Lisson Tretrad testing machine for classifying textile floor coverings (use class and comfort class) in accordance with the PN-EN 1307 standard, and testing of electrostatic pressure in the ‘walking simulator test’ of textile and elastic floor coverings.

The laboratory performs tests of toys’ safety in accordance with PN-EN 71-1 in the field of mechanical properties (tensile test).
The laboratory performs tests for the need of assessment and certification of textile products and expert opinions for state administration bodies.
The laboratory organises and coordinates inter-laboratory comparative tests and participates in tests organised by the Club of Polish Testing Laboratories (POLLAB) and proficiency testing.
The laboratory staff participates in the standardisation works of Technical Committees (TC):

• TC 24 for Textile and Related Machinery
• TC 27 for Floor Coverings and Flammability of Textile Products

Laboratory accredited by:

• Polish Centre for Accreditation with reference to PN-EN ISO/IEC 17025: 2018-02, in the field of mechanical testing of personal protective equipment, textiles, toys, testing of physical properties of personal protective equipment, textiles, electrical testing of products, materials, personal protective equipment, plastic products, textiles. The laboratory has held certificate of accreditation No. AB 164 from the Polish Centre for Accreditation (PCA) since 1996.
• Ministry of National Defence in the field of Defence and Security for the 14th group of products: Uniform supply items. The laboratory has held certificate of accreditation No. 45/MON since 2018.

The laboratory performs the following tests:

• mechanical tests: resistance to: tensile strength, tear strength, shear strength and peeling, ball burst test, cone drop test, static puncture (CBR), slippage of yarns at a seam, elastic properties, tensile test
• tests of physical properties: weave identification, linear mass, number and direction of twists, dimensions, thickness, numerousness, mass per unit area, air permeability, degree of smoothness, resistance to abrasion, resistance to pilling and snarling, resistance to damage when bent, thermal resistance, water vapour resistance, rain resistance, resistance to surface wetting (spray test), waterproofness, dimensional change of fabrics after washing and drying, after soaking in cold water
• electrical tests: transverse electrical resistance, surface resistance, point-to-point resistance, linear resistance, leakage resistance, charge half-decay time using the following methods: inductive, triboelectric and corona discharges.
