Textile technology
In the field of textile technology, we conduct a wide range of research, development and certification activities, thanks to which we remain one of the leaders in Europe, while cooperating with other research units and enterprises. We are the only institute in Poland to certify products for the international OEKO-TEX® label.
- we test the flame resistance of textile products such as curtain fabrics and knitted fabrics, floor coverings, mattresses, bedding components, upholstery products, protective clothing, toys and textile products intended for use in the interiors of means of transport, cars, helicopters and aeroplanes
- we conduct testing of oxygen index (OI)
- we test protective clothing for heat resistance at temperatures of 180°C and 260°C, convective heat, thermal radiation, contact heat and permeation of liquid chemical substances
- we conduct testing for the content of elements
- we carry out physicochemical tests on dyed products, such as: protective clothing, personal and collective protective equipment, materials intended for packaging, and uniform supply items
- we determine physical and functional properties, such as: resistance of dyes to washing, perspiration, dry and wet friction, ironing, water drops, dry thermal processing, bleaching, dry cleaning and artificial light
- we conduct spectrophotometric tests of spectral characteristics (transmittance, reflectance, absorbance) in the range of UV-VIS-NIR from the spectral range of 190 to 3300 nm
- we conduct tests of colour coordinates, colour difference ∆E and chromaticity coordinates (measurement geometry d/8) and luminance coefficient for easily perceptible colours (high-visibility clothing) – measurement geometry 45/0
- we conduct gloss measurements at 20°, 60° and 85°
- we conduct tests for the content of phthalates, pentachlorophenol, heavy metals, aromatic amines, allergenic and carcinogenic colourants
- we check the resistance of the fibre to repeated bending, abrasion, pilling, bursting, wetting, friction, damages during bending, and the resistance of the colour to sweat
- we analyse hygienic properties such as absorption, desorption, water permeability under dynamic conditions, soaking time, permeability and water vapour coefficient
- we check safety of use by testing for the content of hazardous substances listed in legal regulations (including the REACH Regulation and the Toy Safety Directive)
- we conduct tests for the content of heavy metals, disperse dyes, pesticides, quinoline, pentachlorophenol, carcinogenic aromatic amines from the MAK IIIA1 and MAK IIIA2 groups, phthalates, bisphenol A, permethrin, chlorobenzenes and chlorotoluenes, and metal elements released from nickel in accordance with PN EN 1811
- we test the strength of the fibre for stretching, tearing, shearing, peeling, slippage of yarns at a seam, ball burst test, cone drop test and static puncture (CBR)
- we identify the weave, linear mass, number and direction of twists, dimensions, thickness, numerousness, mass per unit area, air permeability and degree of smoothness
- research into the electrical properties of fibres, such as electrical resistance and charge half-decay time
- we are the only institute in the country that tests textile floor coverings and textile floor tiles using the following instruments: Vettermann’s drum, the Lisson Tretrad testing machine for classifying textile floor coverings in accordance with the PN-EN 1307 standard, and testing of electrostatic pressure in the ‘walking simulator test’ of textile and elastic floor coverings
- we check the biodegradability, compostability, disintegration and ecotoxicity of fibres
