- PhD in materials engineering, chemistry, chemical engineering, environmental engineering or a related discipline,
- A doctoral degree should have been obtained in the year of employment in the project or within the 12-year period preceding 1 January of the year of employment in the project. This period may be extended by the duration of any long-term (over 90 days) documented sick pay or rehabilitation benefits received during that period due to incapacity for work. In addition, this period may be extended by the number of months spent on leave for the care and upbringing of children, granted in accordance with the provisions of the Labour Code, and, in the case of women, by 18 months for each child born or adopted, if this method of pointing the breaks in academic career is more favourable,
- Two-year documented labour experience in the research and development sector,
- Occupational experience related to materials engineering and circular economy; the research interests in the fields of diagnostics, and medical technologies, including biosensors; DNA purification and label-free detection methods; sustainable materials, and environmental analysis, including the ability to carry out LCA analyses in accordance with ISO 14040 and ISO 14044 standards, practical knowledge of SimaPro or similar software would be an advantage,
- Scientific contribution documented by publications from the JCR list, including: – authorship or co-authorship of at least two scientific publications (included in Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education scoring list) or two industry reports or two analyses relevant to the Institute’s research areas, and – active participation in at least two academic or industry conferences (e.g. an oral presentation, a poster, participation in a panel discussion) or other events aimed at popularising science or – experience in carrying out research and development projects, e.g. participation in at least two R&D projects, including documented evidence of having carried out part of the R&D work on one’s own, or – a proven track record of collaboration with the business sector in the implementation of research findings,
- the ability to use scientific and literature databases, e.g. SCOPUS,
- a working knowledge of spoken and written Polish, at least at a communicative level,
- a good command of spoken and written English (level B2 or higher), preferably evidenced by a certificate,
- the ability to think analytically, to analyse scientific data and present the results obtained,
- motivation for scientific work, independence, creativity in solving research problems, responsibility for assigned tasks, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, good work organisation, including the timely completion of tasks.

The post-doc person will be involved in the implementation of the project ‘Advanced Materials for Sustainable Nucleic Acid Biosensing’ (SmartSens)’, funded by the National Science Centre (Poland), contract No.UMO-2025/07/Y/ST11/00186. The project Leader is AIT (Austrian Institute of Technology GmbH – Molecular Diagnostics). The main responsibilities of the post-doc will involve:
- collecting the data necessary to assess the biosensors’ blocks and the biosensors in terms of their environmental impact,
- participating in the analysis of biosensors with a view to improving their properties in terms of sustainable development.
In addition, the successful candidate’s responsibilities will include dissemination of research findings through publications in national and international scientific journals, as well as at national and international conferences, seminars and trade fairs.
